CLIC Sargent

Hi again from www.justaskcarl.co.uk

Today I would like to introduce you [ that's if you don't already know] to a charity that’s very close to my heart, they do amazing work for children & young adults who are suffering from cancer,

theres a lot more info on their website www.clicsargent.org.uk

CLIC Sargent has one simple aim: to ease the impact of childhood cancer on children, young people and their families.

Mission

CLIC Sargent aims to reduce the impact of childhood cancer, and supports children and young people with cancer from birth to 24 years-old. They offer them – and their families – clinical, practical and emotional support in the form of:

•Health and social care professionals such as nurses, social workers, youth workers and play specialists.

•Financial help to meet extra costs, free accommodation close to specialist cancer centres for families and free holidays in the UK

Company Overview

Every day 10 families are told that their child has cancer. Diagnosis often comes as a shock. Treatment usually starts straightaway and can last up to three years. As the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, CLIC Sargent is there from the point of diagnosis and helps the whole family cope with the impact of cancer and its treatment.

Every day, 10 children and young people in the UK hear the shocking news they have cancer.

Treatment normally starts immediately, is often given many miles from home and can last for up to three years. Being diagnosed with cancer is a frightening experience and the emotional, practical and financial implications of treatment are intensely challenging for the whole family.

CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families. We provide clinical, practical, financial and emotional support to help them cope with cancer and get the most out of life. We are there from diagnosis onwards and aim to help the whole family deal with the impact of cancer and its treatment, life after treatment and, in some cases, bereavement.

Our history

CLIC Sargent was formed in 2005 after a successful merger between CLIC and Sargent Cancer Care for Children.

•Sargent Cancer Care for Children – founded in 1968 by Sylvia Darley OBE as a lasting memory to the late Sir Malcolm Sargent.

•CLIC – Cancer and Leukaemia in Childhood – founded in 1976 in the south west by Bob Woodward following the diagnosis of his young son Robert with cancer two years before. Sadly, Robert died in 1977 aged 11 years, and Bob went on to dedicate his life to charity work.

I have had first hand experience of this wonderful charity, and I hope they go from strength to strength, and as with other charities they can only survive by the goodwill of people like you, so if you can spare a few pounds or would like to help in other ways, visit their website for information.

A little reminder that if you will be in the vicinity of abergele Tesco on the 18th of October, we will be there all day with our big bucket collection!

That’s all for now, talk to you all again soon
